Biography


Son of conductor Ataulfo Argenta, Fernando was born in Madrid in 1945. Bachelor of Law from the Complutense University of Madrid, he also made higher education studies at Real Conservatorio de Música in that city.
From 1960 to 1965 he was part of the rock and roll group Micky y Los Tonys. In 1971 he started to work for Radio Nacional de España, where he created the programme Clásicos populares and where from 1986 to 1989 he directed Radio 3 and Radio 1.
Clásicos populares received several awards, including two Ondas, three SGAE Music awards, the Medal of Honor from San Sebastian Music Fortnight, the Golden Microphone and Golden Antenna.
In 2000 he created El conciertazo for Televisión Española, a programme that also directed and presented. Since its first issue and until his recent farewell to television programming, El conciertazo has also received several awards for best children's programme, including 6 ATV, Dimas de Oro, the APEI of Radio and Television, or the Silver Globe Media World Hamburg Festival 2004.
Fernando Argenta has also been awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts and has served on the Jury Award for the Arts in Prince of Asturias Awards. Recently received the award given by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs to the best communications initiative for children, for Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
